Frequently Asked Questions
1. When will I hear if my application has been accepted?
Because we expect to receive a very large number of applications (as we did last year), it will take some time for us to review them. We intend to confirm applicants on a rolling basis. If you are accepted, you should expect to receive an email from us confirming your registration. You will also receive an email from us if your application has not been accepted. Only attendees with confirmed registrations will be permitted to enter the conference.
2. Can I attend if I disagree with the views expressed by Campus Progress?
Of course! We believe that a diversity of viewpoints will enhance the conference.
3. If I can’t come until lunchtime on the 8th, can I still attend?
Because space is limited, we will restrict registration to people who can attend the full day’s schedule of events.
4. What should I wear?
Please dress comfortably. Business attire is not required.
5. Where is the conference and how do I get there?
The event will be held in the conference facilities at the Omni Shoreham hotel (2500 Calvert Street NW, Washington, D.C.). The hotel is conveniently located just a few blocks from the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Metrorail station on the Red line. There will be signs for the conference when you come in through the hotel lobby.
6. Where should I stay?
Many area hotels have easy access to the conference site by Metrorail or bus (you can use the Metro website to plan out your trip). Campus Progress is also offering a block of dorm rooms at the George Washington University. See our registration page for details.
7. I’m interested in carpooling or finding out if there are others from my school and/or area that are attending the conference. Can you connect me with other attendees?
We would love to help connect you with others in your area who are attending the conference. We encourage you to carpool and/or get together while you are in D.C., to share your thoughts and techniques on local issue campaigns and to meet with other progressives from your area. To find others from your area, you can check out our Campus Progress Facebook group and post on the group’s Discussion Board (we recommend including your city and state in the subject line).
8. How much will it cost to attend?
The conference is free of charge for all attendees, but you are responsible for your own travel and accommodations. If you would like to attend the conference but can’t afford these costs, we encourage you to apply for funding from your school, campus groups, or other organizations. In addition, Campus Progress has funding available for a limited number of attendees with financial need. If you are interested in applying for Campus Progress travel support, please describe your circumstances in detail where prompted on the application. Notification of travel award grants will be made after June 1.
9. Will parking be available?
The conference hotel offers valet parking at a rate of $33 for the day. This is similar to other garages in the area, so public transportation is a better option. The hotel is conveniently located just a few blocks from the Woodley Park Zoo/ Adams Morgan Metrorail station on the Red line.
10. Is Campus Progress working on ways to make the conference more environmentally conscious this year?
Duh. In recognition of our work with the Energy Action Coalition, Campus Progress will be making extra efforts to implement waste reduction and recycling programs onsite at the Conference, as well as to reduce the environmental impact of the conference. We encourage attendees arranging their own travel to do the same.
